“Star Light, Star Bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wished tonight.”
Listening to my eldest daughter in the other room reminded me of an old bedtime routine. She tenderly told her sister how one little poem can make the world feel safe.
I instantly knew what she was referring to. When Daddy was in the Army and serving overseas this poem was a nightly feature, he’d told her “Whenever you see a star, be sure to make a wish, as once you finish your poem, you’ll feel my goodnight kiss.”
